Gladys Irene (Myers) Dye, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, East Huntingdon Township, passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, in the Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot. Her passing occurred on the birthday of her late son, Charles. Gladys was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Mt. Pleasant Township, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Emma (Miller) Myers. She was married to the Rev. Gerald L. Dye, who passed away Oct. 11, 2001. Gladys was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated from East Huntingdon High School Class of 1949, and was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Belle Vernon, where she was active in many church functions. She previously served as a secretary with the Westmoreland County Department of Corrections and years ago worked at McGraw-Hill Publishing. Gladys attended Johnson Bible College and enjoyed crafts, painting, knitting and along with her late husband, published several word puzzle books. Gladys will be sadly missed by her loving family: her four children, Jerry Dye and his wife, Sue, of Mt. Pleasant, Timothy Dye, of Mt. Pleasant, Susan Horner and her husband, Rodney of Plum Borough, and Steven Dye and his wife, Kookie, of Knoxville, Tenn.; her seven grandchildren, Matthew and Joshua Dye, Heather Sherbondy and husband, Steve, Heidi Eberly, Nathan Eberly and wife, Danielle, Caleb and Luke Horner, and Tyler and Dylan Dye; her three great-grandchildren, Jake Shirley and Madie and Brady Sherbondy; her brother, Kenneth Myers, of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles Paul Dye; and her two brothers, Merle and William Myers.
