GERALDINE ANN KENDI, 88 of Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township) passed away at 3 PM Wednesday, September 9, 2026 in Independence Health System’s Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. Geri was born on June 14, 1938 in Latrobe, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Yandrick) Stranko. She was married to Charles R. Kendi, who passed away on June 8, 1994.

Geri was a devoted wife, mother and longtime and faithful member of the Partner Parish of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Scottdale. She was a loyal member of the CD of A, the Scottdale Women’s Garden Club and the Red Hat Society. Gerri graduated from Latrobe High School, Class of 1956 and enjoyed gardening and crocheting.

Geri will be sadly missed by her loving children, Charles L. Kendi of Pittsburgh and Lisa A. Kendi of Scottdale. Also surviving is her sister, Kathy (Stranko) Spoerer and husband Jim of Dallas, TX and her sister-in-law, Theresa Stranko of Latrobe. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: her two brothers, Gene Stranko and Richard Stranko and wife Kay.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 Monday in the funeral home chapel where Parting prayers will be held at 9:30 AM Tuesday. Funeral Mass will follow at 10 AM Tuesday in The Partner Parish of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Scottdale. Graveside committal service and interment will be in the church cemetery.
