Obituary

George Calvin Rudge, 79, of Ruffsdale, passed away at noon, Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. George was born Oct. 24, 1938, in Penn Hills, a son of the late Emerson A. and Lillian (Baum) Rudge. He married Lola F. ( Smith ) Rudge Nov. 4, 1988. George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a professional landscaper and owner of Rudge Construction. A graduate of Penn Hills High School, Class of 1956, he served in the Army during peacetime post Korean Conflict . He was affiliated with the Pennsville Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, the outdoors and spending time at his Warren County cabin. George will be sadly missed by his loving family; his wife of nearly 30 years, Lola F. (Smith) Rudge; his four children, Brenda Dinardo and Debra Rudge, both of Elizabeth Township, George A. Rudge and wife, Nancy, of Clairton, and Scott D. Rudge, of Elizabeth Township; his four stepchildren, Greg Astle and wife, Betty, of Gainesville, Fla., Richard Astle and wife, Michele, of Turtle Creek, Mark Astle and wife, Tina, of Lake Charles, La., and Spence "Butch" Astle III and wife, Beth, of S. Haven, Miss.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Stanley Rudge and wife, Vicki, of Harrison City; and his two nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida Rudge; his infant brother, Emerson Rudge; and his loyal canine, Zack.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, where a funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday with Pastor Robert Maurer officiating. The Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard will bestow full military honors at the funeral home.
