George Robert Etling, 86, of Ruffsdale, South Huntingdon Township, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at his residence. George was born Dec. 7, 1928, in Connellsville, a son of the late George W. and Gladys (Kemp) Etling. He married the former Bernadine Whipkey Aug. 11, 1951. George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers Local No. 66, retiring after more than 40 years of service. A graduate of Connellsville High School, he was a longstanding member of the Evangelical Church and recently attended New Beginning Evangelical Church in Youngwood. For many years, he was an active member of Men with Vision, participating in mission work trips to Kentucky, Arizona, Mexico, Honduras and Bolivia. George took enjoyment hunting, fishing, gardening and raising fruit trees. George will be sadly missed by his loving family: his wife of 63 years, Bernadine (Whipkey) Etling; his five children, Robert L. Etling (Linda), of Smithton, Vicky L. Bageant (Mark), of Connellsville, Barbara A. Killinger (Fred), of Everson, Carol D. Lukac (Mark Wilkins), of Dilliner, and Joan M. Porter (Donald), of Ruffsdale; his 12 grandchildren, Wayne Etling (Kimber Espen), Jennifer Hohmann (Chad), Patrick Bageant (Jessica), Christina Eckenroad (John), Jeff Means (Joy), Brent Means (Diana), Erik Means (Kara Stevens), Nathaniel Lukac, Zachary Lukac, Amber Etling (Todd), Seth Porter (Veronica) and Caleb Porter; his 14 great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Whipkey, of Connellsville; his two brothers, Thomas Etling (Betty), of Dunbar, and Donald Etling (Shirley), of Perryopolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Yancey and Shirley Hawk; and six brothers, H.
