George Martin Elwell, 54 of Farmington, passed away at 8:25 PM Saturday, April 20, 2019 in Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Jefferson Hills. George was born June 16, 1964 in Uniontown, a son of the late James Martin and Doreen Jean (Nisbet) Elwell. He married Jacqueline L. "Jackie" (Taylor) Elwell on April 23, 1988.
George was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was employed as a sales representative with Valley Tire in Charleroi for the last 20 years and was a graduate of Uniontown High School, Class of 1982. George enjoyed sports, playing basketball and softball, rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, and being outdoors doing gardening and yard work.
George will be sadly missed by his loving family, his wife of 31 years, Jacqueline L. "Jackie" (Taylor) Elwell; his two daughters, Rachal Elwell and her companion, James Hughes and Elizabeth Elwell; his grandson, Zander Jason; his siblings, Patty of Perryopolis, Gege and wife Lynn of Flatwoods, and Ron and wife Cheryl of Dickerson Run; his father and mother-in-law, Jack and Jean (Morris) Taylor; his brother and sisters-in-law, Jeanie Christopher (Gary Seese), Marlene Hanabeck (Bill Fink), April Flickinger, and JR Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews; and his feline friends, Little Bear and Biggie Bear. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy Lamanna (2015).
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the RALPH E. GALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 501 RAILROAD STREET, DAWSON (724-529-2611 / www.fergusonfunerals.com). At the request of the decedent, there will be no viewing or visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 10 AM, Saturday, May 4, 2019 in the Wharton Furnace Church with a funeral meal to follow at the Sons of Italy in Perryopolis at 1 pm.
