Obituary

George A. Cable, 77, of Dawson, passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 24, 2021, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. George was born March 3, 1944, in Connellsville, a son of the late Alfred Cable and Garnet (Lancaster) Cable Neff. He married Carol A. (Baker) Cable on Dec. 10, 1966. George was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was employed for many years at U.S. Steel's Duquesne Works and served in the Army Reserves. He retired from the McCreary Tire Factory, Indiana, and was a faithful member of the Tyrone Presbyterian Church, Lower Tyrone Township. A graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1966, he loved to spend hours out at his favorite fishing hole at Virgin Run Lake where he made many friends. He truly loved spending time with his grandchildren. George was a true sportsman, who enjoyed hunting turkey and deer. One of his greatest joys was passing the love of hunting and fishing on to his sons and grandchildren. George also loved spending time at the local coffee shop, gathering the newest gossip from around town! George "Pap" was loved by his family and was a true friend to many. He will be sadly missed by his loving family, his wife of 54 years, Carol A. (Baker) Cable; his son, George "Steven" Cable and his wife, Rita, of Dawson; his daughter-in-Law, Dyan (Kreller) Cable, of Scottdale; and his grandchildren, George Cable, Nicole Cable and Christine Cable. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian K. Cable, on Oct. 12, 2020; and his brother, Bill Cable. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of RALPH E. GALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 501 Railroad St., Dawson, PA 15428 ( www.fergusonfunerals.com ).
