March 11, 1936 – February 1, 2022
Carole (Ruth) Hunker, 85, of Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township), passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, in the presence of family. Carole was born March 11, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late Glenn Ruth and Olive (Momyer) Ruth Kuhns. She was married for 50 years to Richard E. "Dick" Hunker, who passed away on Nov. 22, 2010. Carole was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated from East Huntingdon High School, Class of 1954, and retired from the former Graft Chrysler Plymouth Dodge, where she worked as a bookkeeper for 25 years. Carole was a longtime and faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Scottdale, where she served as treasurer, choral director and organist. She was on the Board of Directors for the Scottdale Public Library and past member of the Scottdale Choral Society. She enjoyed reading, singing, playing the piano, swimming, playing cards, watching her grandchildren's activities and rooting for all the Pittsburgh sports teams along with Pitt and WVU basketball teams! Carole will be sadly missed by her loving family: her three children, son, David Hunker, wife, Diane, of Franklin Park, son, Dale Hunker, wife, Stephanie, of Indian Trail, N.C., and daughter, Dee Hunker Graft, husband, Gary, of Scottdale; her 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jake, Anna, Drew and Joey Hunker, Dylan Apessos, Kristen Hucks and husband, Jason, Jonathan Link and wife, Chelsea, Heather Graft, and Audrey Graft Comerford and husband, Jake; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Messmer, of Hollywood, Fla.; brother-in-law, William Hunker and wife, Donna, of Scottdale; and cousins, nieces and nephews. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale ( www.fergusonfunerals.com ). Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Additional viewing will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, the hour of funeral services, in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Scottdale, with Pastor Kevin Anderson officiating. Masks will be required to enter the church. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Scottdale Cemetery next to her late husband. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Scottdale Public Library or St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Scottdale in Carole's memory. Love Lasts Forever!
