Frances Jean
Echard
October 23, 1926 – November 15, 2021
Frances Jean (Martz) Echard, 95, of Scottdale (Kingview), went home to God at 11:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, from the comfort of her home, with her children by her side. She was born at her home in South Connellsville Oct. 23, 1926, the daughter of the late Perry Dalton and Ella (Moorman) Martz. Frances was a loving, caring, dedicated mother to her ever-grateful children, Virginia (Joseph) Kochis, Donald (Shelby) Echard and Barbara (Larry) Smith. She was faithfully and happily married for 67 years to her husband, Harry (who was a shoe repairman in Scottdale for 70 years), until his passing in 2011. In addition to her children and their spouses, Frances will be greatly missed by her five grandchildren and their spouses, and by her seven great-grandchildren. She is the last surviving member of her original family, having been preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and three brothers. Frances was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Scottdale, where she attended as long as she was physically able to do so. After experiencing several illnesses the past several years, it has been her hope to soon be with God. That hope is now being fulfilled. A poem that she had read during her lifetime serves as her desire for all of us: "When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set on me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free Miss me a little, but not too long, and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we shared. Miss me, but let me go, for this is a journey we all must take alone. It's all part of the Master's plan - a step on the road to home." Our thankful hearts and abundant gratitude are extended to Dr. Mark Williams, for his sincere care through the years; and to the compassionate staff of ProMedica Hospice Care during Frances' final days, especially Charlotte, Sam and Shari. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, www.fergusonfunerals.com . At the request of Frances, there will be no public viewing, visitation or service. Private interment will take place in Greenlick Cemetery. Love Lasts Forever!
