Erik J.
Frund
November 23, 1989 – August 16, 2021
Erik Joseph Frund, 31, of Scottdale, passed away on Monday, Aug. 16, 2021.
Erik was born Nov. 23, 1989, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Beulah (Grimm) Frund of Scottdale and the late Duane R. "Butch" Frund, who passed away on Nov. 19, 2017.
Erik was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle, and nephew. He graduated from Southmoreland High School, Class of 2008 and was employed as a climber with Stockton Tree Service of Scottdale. Erik was a gifted athlete, playing football during his high school and college career. The most important part of his life was his son, "EJ". "The day Erik died, we died along with him. We will miss him every day for the rest of our lives. The pain of his death is heartbreaking and intolerable, which is why stories like Erik's should not be ignored. Our family asks that you realize that no one is immune to the epidemic of opioid and heroin addiction that encumbers our culture!"
Erik will be sadly missed by his loving family, his mother, Beulah (Grimm) Frund; his son, Erik Joseph "EJ" Frund; his sister, Dana Frund of Washington, DC; his brother, Duane Frund III of Scottdale; his aunts, Saundra Cagnina of Connellsville, Judy Gross of Scottdale, and Vanetta Lincoln of Greensburg; his uncles, Mark Frund (Suzanne) of Martinsburg, W. Va. and Richard King of Connellsville; his nieces and nephews, Riyah Younkin, Nora Frund, Duane Frund IV, Bennett Frund, and Jack Frund; and his special cousin, Alexandr Frund of Martinsburg, W. Va. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Nora Oldland and his paternal grandparents, Duane R. And Marjorie (Fox) Frund.
