Emilio Fernando Gonzalez, 42, of Scottdale, passed away Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. Emilio was born Jan. 15, 1976, in David, Panama, the son of the late Emilio Fernando Gonzalez and Sonia Isebel Contreras Melendez. He married the former Beth Christine Thomas on Sept. 4, 2004. Emilio was a devoted and loving husband. He was proud of his U.S. citizenship, which he acquired in 2011, and also enjoyed rappelling, politics and studying military history. He was affiliated with Community Christian Church in Mt. Pleasant. Emilio was proud to be a warehouse and shipping employee with Leybold Vacuum USA Inc. in Export. Emilio will be sadly missed by his loving family, his wife of 13 years, Beth Christine (Thomas) Gonzalez; his father and mother-in-law, Al and Cathy (Rath) Thomas, of Mt. Pleasant; his sisters-in-law, Sarah Timmons (Bill) and Melissa Woods (Paul Hunter); his brothers-in-law, Dr. Ed Thomas (Amy), Mark Woods (Melissa Monyok) and Matt Thomas (Nikki); his half sister, aunts and cousins in Panama; and his six nieces and nephews, Jake Thomas, Molly Hunter, Josiah Thomas, Aubrey Thomas, Lilly Hunter and Presley Thomas.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale (724-887-5300). Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Community Christian Church, 709 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, where funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., with Pastor Al Thomas officiating.
