Elmira Joan Bodenheimer, 83, of Mt. Pleasant (East Huntingdon Township), passed away at 8:20 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at the residence of her son with her family at her side. Joan was born March 25, 1934, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Clyde Clarence and Genevieve Florence (Coons) Mensch, who passed away in 1963 and 1983 respectively. She was married to Eldridge "Buzz" Bodenheimer, who passed away Oct. 26, 1975. Joan was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was previously employed as a nurse's aide at Countryside Personal Care Home. Joan was also a member of Grandview Church of God and enjoyed her grandchildren, watching TV and playing the lottery. Joan will be sadly missed by her loving family: her five children, Jeanie Barkley and her husband Augie, of Mt. Pleasant, Jennifer Suter and her husband Wayne, of Ruffsdale, Myra Adams and her companion Butch Hillen, of Connellsville, Buzz Bodenheimer and his wife Tammy, of Mt. Pleasant, and Eric Bodenheimer and his wife Lauralee, of Connellsville; her fourteen grandchildren, Randy Cable, Todd Barkley, Nicole Trapasso and husband Joe, Wayne Suter, Erik Adams and wife Taunni, Nate, Brooklyn, Madesyn, Nick and Sydney Bodenheimer and Sarah, Chance, Noelle, and Chase Bodenheimer; her seven great-grandchildren, Joey and Emmaline Trapasso, Aydn Barkley, Dustin Neal and Xander, Ryalyn and Athena Adams; her siblings, Iantha Barkley, of Greensburg, Dahl Mensch and wife Judy and Darhl Mensch and wife Doddie, all of Scottdale; numerous nieces and nephews; Kevin Fox and wife Pam, whom she considered her son; her 3-year-old pet schnoodle, Buddy; her special cousin, Victor Bargiband; and a sister, Shirl Croak, of South Carolina. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Natalie Cable (2012); her infant sister, Peggy Lee Mensch (1937); and her brother, Fred Mensch (2008).

Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday with Pastor D. Keith Solomon officiating.
