Edwin L. Dillinger, 80, of Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township), passed away at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Ed was born April 2, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Roy E. and Elizabeth Adair (Espey) Dillinger, who passed away Dec. 4, 2000, and Oct. 24, 2007, respectively. He married the former Joanne Myers on March 14, 1956. Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was owner and proprietor of Dillinger Equipment Sales and Gravely Tractor Service for 47 years. Years ago, he worked at ITE in Greensburg. He graduated from East Huntingdon High School, Class of 1954, was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, and served in the PA National Guard. Ed was a member of the Scottdale American Legion, Hempfield Hunt Club and the East Huntingdon Fireman's Club. He also enjoyed hunting and boating. Ed will be sadly missed by his loving family: his wife of 60 years, Joanne (Myers) Dillinger; his two children, Don Dillinger and his wife, Janet, of Scottdale, and Teri Bowes and her husband, Gerald, of Greensburg; his four grandchildren, Donnie Dillinger (Rachelle Thompson), Christina Dillinger, Tony Mongell (Stacie) and Ronnie Mongell (Misty); his five great-grandchildren, Brittany, Alanea, Sylairah, Ella and Ronan; and his faithful pet dog, Bruno.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale (724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com / GPS: N40 degrees 06.136, W79 degrees 35.278). Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Tom Shirer officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Alverton Cemetery with full military honors bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard. A memorial meal will be held in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church afterwards.
Memorials may be made to: Scottdale American Legion or Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. The family extends appreciation to the doctors, nurses and hospice staff of Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital's Third Floor for their loving care provided. Love Lasts Forever!
