Obituary

Edward L. "Ed" Artice, 68, of Scottdale, East Huntingdon Township, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Ed was born Oct. 12, 1949, in Redstone Township, a son of the late Lloyd and Clara (Robinson) Artice. He married Grace Suzanne "Sue" Franks Artice on Sept. 18, 1971. Ed was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He retired from Penn Line Service in Scottdale after 35 years of service as a store room manager and truck driver. A veteran of the Army, he served his country as a sergeant during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Medal, General Thomas Stewart Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Service Ribbon. He was a member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, the Scottdale American Legion Post and enjoyed his grandchildren and camping. Ed will be sadly missed by his loving family; his wife of 46 years, Grace Suzanne "Sue" (Franks) Artice; his two children, April Metzger and husband, Chad, of Mt. Pleasant, and Dawn Jarvis and husband, Daniel, of Penn Township; and his eight grandchildren, Hanna, Chase, Michael, Hayden, Dustin, Abby, Emma and Jack. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Edward and Lucille (Hostetler) Franks.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Captain Barnhart officiating. The Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard will bestow full military honors.
