Dora F. "Dottie" (McKnight) Dykun Ganoe, 91, of Scottdale, passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 18, 2015, at the home of her sister, Hazel Hixon, in Lower Tyrone Township. Dora was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Lower Tyrone Township, a daughter of the late William S. and Mary F. (Junk) McKnight. She was married to Charles Dykun, who passed away Jan. 12, 1999, and to Raymond E. Ganoe. Dora was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed life and was a friend to many local residents. Dora was a longtime and faithful member of Bryan United Methodist Church in Dawson but in recent years attended the Christ United Methodist Church in Scottdale. Years ago, she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Board of Administrators at Bryan United Methodist Church. She was also an active member of the Regional Family YMCA, the Brownfield Community Center and Senior Citizens. She enjoyed volunteering at Scottdale Manor, line dancing at the Center and listening to country music. Yearly, she assisted with the Christmas calendar mailing for the Ferguson funeral home. Dora will be sadly missed by her devoted family; her daughter, Carol McCovish and her husband, John, of Dawson; her two grandchildren, Jean Ann and Jerome McCovish; her sister, Hazel Hixon, of Dawson; her brother, Robert McKnight, of Connellsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Oliver, Paul and Glenn McKnight. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Kathy Barnhart officiating.
