Obituary

Donald E. Taylor Sr., 81, of Scottdale, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, in the Greensburg Convalescent Care Center, Greensburg. Don was born Sept. 15, 1935, in Connellsville, a son of the late Lloyd Morley and Mary Ellen (Love) Taylor. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Sherrick) Taylor, and his second wife, Beatrice (Muchoney) Taylor. Don was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He graduated from Connellsville High School, Class of 1953, and was employed as a forklift operator at the Fayette Steel Corp. Don was a longtime member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church at Tarrs, and enjoyed hunting, beach vacations and was an avid sports fan. Don will be sadly missed by his loving family: his four children, Catherine Lee (Taylor) Lehman and her husband, Michael, of Mt. Pleasant, Valerie Ann (Taylor) King and her husband, Charles, of Scottdale, Donald Eugene Taylor Jr. and his wife, Amy, of York, and Sandra Lynne (Taylor) Leonard and her husband, Jeff, of Scottdale; his nine grandchildren; his great-granddaughter; his special companion, Mary Murdock; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Don was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale (724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com / GPS: N40 degrees 06.136, W79 degrees 35.278). There will be no public viewing or visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, Tarrs, with Pastor Greg Butler and Pastor Ralph Mostoller co-officiating. Final resting place will be in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery.
