Donald J. Smodic, 57, of Apollo, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018. Don was born Sept. 24, 1960, in Uniontown, a son of Ida (Klanchessor) Yankovic, of Greensburg, and the late Frank J. Smodic, who passed away July 4, 1995. Don married Alma Doreen (Driscoll) Smodic on April 20, 1985. Don was a devoted husband, father, son, grandfather and brother. He was employed as an estimator for DB Construction of Munhall for many years. Don was a graduate of Southmoreland High School, class of 1978, and a member of Mother of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in Murrysville. He enjoyed hunting, especially grouse, fishing, yard work, and had a fondness for dogs and mushrooms. Don will be sadly missed by his wife of 33 years, Alma Doreen (Driscoll) Smodic; his mother, Ida (Klanchessor) Yankovic; his three children, Matthew Smodic and wife Nicole, of Apollo, Natalie Burkhart and husband Stephen, of Scottdale, and Victoria Hallmark and husband Christopher, of Washington; his two grandchildren, Levi and Alena; his sister, Sonya Lowe, of Scottdale; his two brothers, Frank and Dale Smodic, both of Scottdale; numerous nieces and nephews; and his canine companions, Daisy and Tech.
