D. Jean Reese

Dolores Jean Reese, 85 of Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township) passed away at 9:45 PM Friday, December 26, 2025 in Independence Health System's Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. Jean was born October 10, 1940 in Connellsville, a daughter of the late James M. and Dorothy M. (Nicolo) Hixson. She married Carl E. Reese Sr. on December 28, 1959 and he passed away on January 18, 2023.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She was retired from the Mennonite Church Camp at Laurelville and was a faithful member of the Wesley Chapel Church. She enjoyed crocheting and doing puzzles.

Jean will be sadly missed by her loving family; her two sons, Carl E. Reese Jr. and wife Leonie (Cramer) of Colorado Springs, CO and Kenneth Reese of Harrisburg; her two daughters, Janet Adams and husband Jeffery of Scottdale and Lynne Askins and husband Jerry of Charleroi; her grandchildren, Stephen Reese and girlfriend, Danielle Blake of Scottdale, Patrick Smith of Irwin, Zachary Smith of Irwin, and Brooke Snyder of Pittsburgh; her great grandson, Giovanni Sabatello of Pittsburgh; her two sisters, Mary Ansell and Shirley Clifford; her brother, James Hixson and wife Cheryl; her sister-in-law, Esther Reese; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, James Peffley.

Family and friends will be received from 10 AM – 1 PM Tuesday in Wesley Chapel Church followed by funeral services at 1 PM Tuesday with Pastor Tom Shirer officiating, Chapel committal service and interment next to her late husband will be in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township.
