Dolores Jean Espey, 85, of Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township), passed away surrounded by her loving family at 8:40 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, at the home of her daughter. Jean was born Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1938, in Scottdale, a daughter of the late William Allen and Virginia Ruth (Moorhead) Felgar.
Jean was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. She was a graduate of Scottdale High School and previously worked at the family's Espey Meat Market, and at Pagano's and Knight's Court Hotels in New Stanton. Jean was a faithful member of Wesley Chapel Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially playing bingo at Thanksgiving. She also enjoyed planting flowers, camping, and family picnics. Jean was also a noted cancer survivor.
Jean will be sadly missed by her loving family, her three children, Joey Espey Jr. (Sue), Randy Espey (Laura), and Kisa Nelson (Kelvin); her six grandchildren, Emily Snyder (Adam), Rebecca Espey, Kelvin "Buddy" Nelson, Stephanie "Babe" Fosbrink (Steve), Sarah Rice (Garrett), and Joe "Little Joe" "Joe Dawg" Espey (Morgan); her two step- grandchildren, Zach and Abbie Gergas; and her four great-grandchildren, Avery and Gage Snyder, Colt Rice, and Ryder Espey and (additionally a soon to be born great-grandson). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Pamela Espey.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING ST., SCOTTDALE (www.fergsonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Tom Shirer officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Scottdale Cemetery next to her late mother. The family extends their appreciation to Excela Hospice for their loving care. Love Lasts Forever!
