Dennis W. Ray, of Mt. Pleasant, completed his circle of life Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, following a stoic, four-year battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 3, 1954, in Mt. Pleasant, to Joseph and Audrey Wilson Ray. He worked at Elliott Co. in Jeanette as a machine operator and inspector for 40 years. He also served as secretary for Steelworkers Union Local 1145. He was a loving husband to Cynthia Reed Ray for 47 years; and an amazing father and father-in-law to sons, Andrew Russell and wife Jennifer Fisher Ray, of Scottdale, and Matthew Joseph and wife, Jennifer Vrcic Ray, of Plum. Dennis was a fun and adoring grandfather to Alexander, Nicholas and Elizabeth, of Scottdale, and Dylan and Olivia, of Plum. They will all miss him beyond measure. He also leaves behind many people who dearly love him, especially his brother, Joseph Ray and family; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Smithnosky and family; and sister-in-law, Ramona Sherbondy and family. Dennis most enjoyed the time spent with his family. He was proud of the 15 years he spent coaching youth soccer in Scottdale in the 1980s and '90s. And he truly enjoyed the time shared with the kids and their families. His family would like to thank doctors, nurses, caregivers and hospital staffers for their care and love. They would especially like to thank the entire team at Hillman Cancer Center in Shadyside and the staff at Shadyside Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents; his in-laws, Russell and Alice Reed; and three siblings, David, Deborah and Candy. If you would like to honor Dennis's life, love or friendship, please make a donation in his memory to
