Obituary

Dennis Ray Barko, 67

of Connellsville (Bullskin Township), parked his tractor trailer at the yard and went home to Jesus at 12:52 PM Friday, April 24, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 26, 1959 in Connellsville, a son of the late Louis Anthony and Margaret Ellen (Bowman) Barko. He married the former Pamela Jean Spies on April 3, 2019 and she survives him.


Dennis, who was referred to as “Big D” by family and friends was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He graduated from

Connellsville Area High School, Class of 1977 and was employed as a

Truck Driver with Reon Snyder Trucking for 49 years. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Masonic Lodge #346 and attended the Scottdale Church of Christ.


Dennis will be sorely missed by all of his loving family; his wife, Pamela (Spies) Barko; his children, Derek Barko and his wife Chastity, Danielle Barko and Jeff King, and Dustin Barko and his wife Virginia; his bonus children, Beth Modlin of North Carolina, Fawn Baker and her husband Keith of Atlanta, GA, Casey Seyam of Scottdale, Mindy Hast of St. Augustine, FL, Mandy Higinio of Toronto, Canada, and Hannah Kantorik and her husband Bruce of Acme; his 25 grandchildren; his siblings, Regina Feniello and her husband Bob, Margie Halkowitz, and Nancy Brashear; and countless family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Deanna Barko; and his brother, Joel Barko.


Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET, SCOTTDALE (www.fergusonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received from 6-8 PM Wednesday, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday, and from 10-11 AM Friday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday with Pastor Howard Carpenter officiating. Chapel committal service with Mike Hazelton presiding and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park. Memorials
