David R. Bixler Jr., 92, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Scottdale, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016. A native of Scottdale, he was born March 18, 1924, and resided in Pensacola since 1955. He was a World War II veteran, having served as a second lieutenant in the Army, and was a graduate of Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio. He was associated with his father's MD Casualty Insurance business in Scottdale for many years prior to relocating to Florida, where he operated the Bixler Insurance & Associates Agency, beginning in the 1960s. He will be sadly missed by his loving family; his two daughters, Kathy Allday (Clay) and Susan Womack (Jerry); his longtime companion, Barbara McCoy; a grandson, Danny Peterson (Heather); and two great-granddaughters, Taylor and Sydney Peterson.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 11 a.m. Friday in Scottdale Cemetery with Pastor Roy Butt officiating. Full military honors will be bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard.
