Daniel H. "Dan" Ansell, 79, of Dawson, passed away peacefully at 9:25 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2018.

Dan was born Aug. 20, 1938, in Connellsville, a son of the late Earl and Alice (Foreman) Ansell.

He married Evelyn V. (Benzio) Ansell on Feb. 14, 1962.

Dan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Philip G. Cochran United Methodist Church and had been employed at Wayne Feeds in Everson for 26 years. Dan also worked in maintenance at the Connellsville Dairy Queen. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed his grandchildren, riding motorcycles, and cutting grass. A graduate of Frazier High School, Class of 1957, he also served in the U.S. Marines during peacetime.

Dan will be sadly missed by his loving family: his wife of 56 years, Evelyn V. (Benzio) Ansell; his four children, Donald R. Ansell and companion April of Connellsville, Alice L. Smith and husband Ed of Connellsville, Earl B. Ansell and wife Erin of Dawson, and Evelyn A. Ansell and companion Eric of Dawson; his nine grandchildren, Shelly Hall and husband Brice, Cassandra Franklin and fiancé Alan, William (Jose) Franklin and wife Katie, Patricia Smith, Nicholas Boone, and Keashia, Kaitlyn, Kyle, and Daniel Ansell; his four great-grandchildren, Cayden and Kellen Vivian and Isabel and Gabrielle Franklin; his sister, Ruth Farrow of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Rimel.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the Ralph E. Galley Funeral Home, 501 Railroad St., Dawson, 724- 529-2611, www.fergusonfunerals.com. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Dr. Marvin Watson officiating.

Graveside committal services and interment will follow in Cochran Cemetery with full military honors bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to the Arnold Palmer Cancer Center, 724-838-1900.

The family extends its appreciation to nurse Marlee, Excela Home Hospice Care, and the hospice team, and to the Scottdale Manor & Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care that was given.
