Obituary

Charles "Lindy" Basinger, 91, of Connellsville Township, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at his residence.

Lindy was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Springfield Township, a son of the late Ralph and Alice (King) Basinger.

He was married to Ellaweze (Kern) Basinger, who passed away in August 1998. Lindy was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He retired from Connellsville Area School District, where he was employed in the maintenance department. Previously, he worked as a truck driver, delivering freight.

Lindy was a longtime and faithful member of the Mt. Olive Evangelical Church and served for many years as road supervisor in Connellsville Township. He also was a member of the Scottdale Coin Club and enjoyed gardening and raising cattle.

Lindy will be sadly missed by his loving family: his daughter, Dora Kay Hager of Somerset; his granddaughter, Tina Hager and her husband Richard "Rick" Stouffer of Friedens; his great-grandchildren,

Shelby and Miles Hager; his three sisters, Helen Kaylor and husband H.J. of New Hampshire, Dorothy Hahn of South Connellsville, and Nancy Colomartino and husband Joe of Dunbar; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Stewart; and his four brothers, Ernie, Ralph "June", John, and Jimmy Basinger.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, 724- 887-5300, www.fergusonfunerals.com . Family and friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10- 11 a.m. Thursday, the hour of service, in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Lee Maley officiating.

Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Normalville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Mt. Olive Church.
