Cecil L. Anderson, 88, of Altoona, formerly of Scottdale, passed away Friday morning, July 22, 2016 in the Altoona Nursing & Care Center. Cecil was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Scottdale, a son of the late Irvin and Ida Mae (Geary) Anderson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ina E. "Betty" (Steir) Anderson, in 1983; his second wife, Margaret Ida (Detling) Anderson, in 2012; his seven brothers, Arthur, Carl, Albert, Lawrence, Gilbert, Ralph and Glenn Anderson; and his three sisters, Ethel Etling, Mildred Taylor and Dorothy "Dot" Anderson. Cecil was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He attended East Huntingdon High School and was employed as a machinist at Scottdale Machine & Foundry. In later years, he worked as a security guard at Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Cecil was an avid fan of building and flying remote control airplanes and also enjoyed gardening. Cecil will be sadly missed by his loving family: his daughter, Pamela S. (Anderson) Fuller and her husband, Dale; his granddaughters, Stacy Skubinna and her husband, Darryl, and Nicole Bright and her husband, Michael; several great-granddaughters; his sister, Janet Normand; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale (724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com / GPS: N40 degrees 06.136, W79 degrees 35.278). Family and friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday with Pastor Dave Hixson officiating. Interment in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township, will be private.
