Cassandra C. Vivian, 79, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away at 8:31 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, a day after her birthday at her residence in Ridgeview Court. Cassandra was born, a daughter of the late Alfred A. and Elizabeth (Parigi) Vivian in Monessen on Dec. 12, 1942.
Cassandra was a well known and noted writer, historian, photographer, scholar, and author of numerous books. A time ago, she travel the Egyptian deserts and resided for many years in Cairo. Her pioneering research filled huge gaps in desert studies, leading one of her loyal professional colleagues to state, "Cassandra's Egyptian treks are a story of a woman's courage, dedication, and caring. Her books are major contributions to human understanding and they will continue to be important for many generations to come!" Above all, it was her passion that identified her, most recently delving into Western Pennsylvania history and as a professional archivist, producing the writings that tell the story of the Fay-West area perpetually. Whether it was unearthing the artifacts of the Holy lands, tracing the footsteps of Gen. Edward Braddock from 250 years ago or unveiling factual misconceptions of H.C. Frick, Cassandra astutely served as a catalyst for those seeking knowledge.
Cassandra will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her cremation services will be private followed by scattering of her cremains in the Nile River.
