Carrie Marie (Woodward) Kovack, 91 of Uniontown (formerly of Vanderbilt) passed away at 5:21 PM Friday, October 13, 2023 at the home of her daughter, Rosemary Franks. Carrie Marie was born May 7, 1932 in Vanderbilt, a daughter of the late Curtis and Rose (Bonadio) Woodward. She was married to George Kovack, who passed away on October 16, 2015. Carrie Marie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She graduated from Dunbar Township High School, Class of 1950 and years ago was employed at the Connellsville Macaroni Factory, Anchor Hocking and at Burns Drug Store for 15 years. She was a longtime and faithful member of the former Sacred Heart RC Church in Dawson and more recently the Immaculate Conception RC Church in Connellsville. Carrie always opened her home to community activities, and enjoyed shopping, dining out, and spending time with her grand and great grandchildren. Carrie Marie will be sadly missed by her loving family; her four children, Rosemary Franks and her husband Sonny (with whom Carrie made her home with the past eight years), Gloria Jean Abate and her husband Mark of Ohiopyle, Shane Kovack and his wife Teresa of Connellsville, and Dayne Kovack and his wife Kathy of Oakland, MI; her eight grandchildren, Jeff Ansell and wife Jackie, Frank Ansell and wife Gena, Michelle DeMoss and husband Robert, Melissa Zirwas and husband Jeff, Shane Joseph Kovack and wife Jennifer, Shannon Behre and husband Christopher, Kasey Rajel and husband Kyle, and Kara Erickson and husband Craig; her 17 great grandchildren, Collin and Connor DeMoss, Jenna, Jordan, Jillian, and Joey Ansell, Jacob and Heather Ansell, Devan, Logan, Brysan, and Kendall Zirwas, Chase, Emma, and Carter Behre, Killian Rajel, and "baby" Erickson due Dec. 15, 2023; and her sister, Betty Cappa of Everson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nevada Grace Woodward.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the RALPH GALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 501 RAILROAD STREET, DAWSON (www.fergusonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received from 4-8 PM Tuesday and from 9-10 AM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel where a Blessing Service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday. Chapel committal service and interment will follow in Dickerson Run Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Love Lasts Forever!
