Carole Gene (Skemp) Stoner, 74, of Scottdale, passed away at her home at 1:18 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Carole was born Oct. 19, 1941, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late John Dick and Genevieve (Vance) Skemp, who passed away on July 27, 1968 and April 3, 2015, respectively. She married Dennis "Denny" Stoner on June 29, 1963. Carole was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a graduate of Scottdale High School, class of 1959, and a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Scottdale where she was a member of tyhe Kitchen Klass and had served as a youth leader. Carole was employed as a secretary for Alloy Scottdale Federal Credit Union for 12 years and was a clerk with White's Erie Insurance Company in Scottdale for many years and served as a member of the Scottdale Borough Parks & Recreation Board and helped organize the Greater Scottdale Girls Softball League. She also enjoyed her family, going to the beach, and playing tennis. Carole will be sadly missed by her loving family: her husband of 53 years, Dennis "Denny" Stoner; her three daughters, Holly Barclay and her husband, Brent, of Cranberry Township, Wendy Pisula and her husband, Greg, and Cindy Sager and her husband, Tim, all of Scottdale; her seven grandchildren, Caitlin, Jake, Sam, Shelby, Max, Emily and Claire; her sister, Darleene Szolek and her husband, Dan, of Mt. Pleasant; her brother, John Dick Skemp Jr., of Scottdale; and several nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Jennifer Szolek, on June 9, 2010.
