Obituary

Carol E. Preble, 89, of Lecanto, Fla., formerly of Floral City, Fla., passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, in Rosecastle of Citrus, Lecanto, Fla. She was born Carol Elizabeth Buck, Feb. 21, 1929, in Derry Township, Dauphin County, a daughter of the late Albert J. and Violet (Hersey) Buck. Carol was adopted by the late Russell A. and Anna M. Preble of Camp Hill, Cumberland County. Carol attended Camp Hill High School and was a graduate of Slippery Rock University, eventually teaching physical education and health in West Mifflin. After relocating to Florida, she taught in Clearwater and Crystal River schools for many years, retiring in 1995. Carol enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, traveling, camping, singing and playing the piano, organ and banjo. She attended the Peabody Institute of Music in Baltimore, Md. , and was a faithful member of Glendale Springs Presbyterian Church in Glendale Springs, N.C., where she had a summer home. Her love was for rescuing dogs, cats and donkeys and giving them a loving home! Carol will be sadly missed by her loving family; her stepbrother, Russell Preble Jr., and his wife, Dorothy "Jean", of Fairfax, Va., and their children, Amanda, of Centerville, Va., Alan, of Burke, Va., and Mary Sue, of Lithotolis, Ohio; seven great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-nieces and nephews; her three brothers, Earl Alton, Robert Allen and James Clyde Buck; her "adopted" Kintigh family; Frances Kintigh and her family, Kit L. Kintigh and wife, Joanne, Patricia J. Kintigh, Timothy G. Kintigh and Stephen E. Kintigh and his wife, Carol; and also, David R. Kintigh and wife, Karyl, Paul Kintigh and wife, Diane, Ann Browning, Mark Kintigh, and Daniel Kintigh and wife, Kristin. In addition to her parents and adopted parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Buck and her best friend, Mary Anne Kintigh . Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday with Pastor Richard Sementilli officiating.
