Obituary

Carl E. Reese Sr., 88, of Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township), passed away at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, in the Oak Hill Nursing Center, Hempfield Township. Carl was born Nov. 23, 1934, in East Huntingdon Township, a son of the late Homer Glenn and Isabel (Condre) Reese. He married Dolores Jean (Hixson) Reese Dec. 28, 1959. Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was a retired employee in the maintenance department of Wernersville State Hospital and years ago worked as a machinist at the former Modulus Corporation Plant in Mt. Pleasant and as a professional plasterer. Carl was a longtime member of the Good Sheppard Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant. A graduate of East Huntingdon High School, Class of 1952, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a special private third class and was awarded the United Nations, National Defense and Korean Service Medals. Carl also enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. Carl will be sadly missed by his loving family; his wife of 63 years, Dolores Jean (Hixson) Reese; his four children, Carl E. Reese Jr. and wife, Leonie (Kramer), of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kenneth A. Reese, of Harrisburg, Janet M. Adams and husband, Jeffery, of Scottdale, and Lynne Askins and husband, Jerry, of Charleroi; his four grandchildren, Stephen L. Reese, of Scottdale, Patrick M. Smith and fiancee, Anji (Jones), of Irwin, Zachary A. Smith, of Irwin, and Brooke A. Sabatello and husband, T.J., of Charleroi; his great-grandson, Giovanni Sabatello; and his sister, Esther Reese, of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Nancy Reese and Thomas Reese. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, ( www.fergusonfunerals.com ). Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tom Shirer officiating. Chapel committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township, with full military honors bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Carl's memory. Love Lasts Forever!
