Obituary

Betty Brown Weaver of Scottdale, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, 99 years, and 10 months old, passed away on September 10, 2022. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Roy E. Weaver on February 18 , 1997.Surviving are her sons, Jerry Weaver (Mary Beth) and James Weaver (Brenda). Daughters Judith Smith  (Melvin) and Janet Reardon. Also, by grandchildren Rory Weaver, Van Weaver, Garrett Weaver (Caitlin), Jeffrey A. Smith (Amy), Kristin Robertucci (Chris) and Michael Reardon. Great-grandchildren Jeffrey J. Smith, John Robertucci (Tugce), Olivia Robertucci. Great-great grandchildren Starlyn Smith and Jocelyn Smith. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Betty was born on November 13, 1922, in Ruffs Dale to James Brown and Marie Louise Leighty Brown. She grew up on a farm and was taught to work hard, learned tenacity, had an unshakable faith, and always faced life with a cheerful and positive attitude.

She was a graduate of East Huntingdon High School in 1941 and Frick Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. After completion of nursing school, Betty worked atMagee Hospital in Pittsburgh as an RN. She entered the Army Nurse Corp as an RN in 1946 (Lieutenant) 13th Station Hospital Okinawa (WWII). She worked many years at Frick Hospital and 18 years at Connellsville State Hospital and cherished her many co-workers and friends.

She was a member of Frick Alumni, College Lunch Club, PA State Retirees, a 50-year Eastern Starmember, Red-Hat Ladies and attended Pennsville Baptist Church. Betty lived at Greenwood apartments in Mt. Pleasant for an extended time and enjoyed preparing lunches for Friday bible study, book club and the numerous activities and parties they had over the years and developed many friendships.

Betty was the last surviving member of her family. She was pre-deceased by her parents and siblings, brothers Donald and James Brown, sisters Jean Brown, Doris Lentz, Mae Gunter, and Fern Moore.

She was an inspiration to all, and we will always hold her memory close.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET , SCOTTDALE ( http://www.fergusonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday and from 10-11 AM Tuesday in the funeral home chapel followed by funeral services at 11 AM Tuesday with Pastor Robert Bixel officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will be in Scottdale Cemetery next to her late husband. Full military honors will be bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard. Love Lasts Forever
