Obituary

BETTY M. (WARRICK) SMITLEY, 89 of Scottdale passed away at 4:05 am Monday, October 17, 2016 in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. Betty was born July 21, 1927 in Connellsville, a daughter of the late John A. and Marion M. (Lohr) Warrick, who passed away in 1968 and 2006 respectively. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Lester Smith on July 31, 1983 and married her second husband, William Smitley on October 16, 1999.

Betty was devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She was a licensed beautician and years ago operated a local beauty shop. She also previously worked at Modulus Corp. and at Tartal's Restaurant in Scottdale. A longtime and faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Scottdale, she was active in the adult choir, Sunday school class, and as a Sunday school teacher. Betty enjoyed ceramics and traveling with her husband to Breezewood for pie!

Betty will be sadly missed by her loving family; her husband of 17 years, William Smitley; her son, Richard Smith of Scottdale; her brother, Robert W. Warrick and his wife JoAnn of Scottdale; her sister-in-law, Marion Ruff of Greenwood, SC; several nieces and nephews; and her pet dog, Louie. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jack Warrick (1950); and her two sisters, Dolores Jean Robson (1975) and Donna Bills (1977).

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET, SCOTTDALE (724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com / GPS: N40 degrees 06.136, W79 degrees 35.278). Family and friends will be received from 1-5 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 5 PM Wednesday with Pastor Tom Shirer officiating.
