Betty W. (Wilder) Rolla, 86, of Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township), passed away at 12:19 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Betty was born April 23, 1931, in Williamsburg, Ky., a daughter of the late Theodore C. and Emma (Fleenor) Wilder. She was married to James Clyde Rolla, who passed away on March 9, 2006. Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a registered nurse, working years ago at Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She served as the coordinator for Scottdale's American Red Cross Bloodmobile for 35 years and was recognized with a Community Service Volunteer Award. She also chaired the Disaster Relief and Multi-Media Education committees. Betty was a longtime and faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Scottdale and the Women's Evangelical Lutheran Church Association. Years ago, she was the neighborhood chairman of the Girls Scouts and along with her husband, was affiliated with Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Donegal. She also was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star's Scottdale Chapter No. 383 for 46 years and enjoyed reading and gardening. Betty will be sadly missed by her loving family, her two sons, James "Jim" Rolla and Gerald "Jerry" Rolla, both of Scottdale; her three grandchildren, Jeremy Rolla and wife, Camille, of Pittsburgh, Joshua Rolla and wife, Bobbi, of Jeannette, and Heidi Kuhn and husband, Tari, of Mt. Pleasant; her 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, LaVerne Runyon and husband, Robert, of Youngstown, Ohio; her brother, Bill Wilder and wife, Madeline, of Mason, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Theodore Rolla; her infant daughter, Judith Rolla; her grandson, Kenneth Rolla (1999); and her daughter-in-law, Ruth E. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with her pastor, the Rev. Daniel Clark, officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Alverton Cemetery, next to her late husband.
