Obituary

BESSIE LEE HAYES, 94 of Dawson passed over to be with the Lord at 5:26 PM Saturday, May 21, 2016. Bessie was born May 27, 1921 at Lower Tyrone Township, Dawson a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Heller) Miller. She was the wife of Ernest N. Hayes, Sr. who passed away in 1992 and with whom she is celebrating her 74 th wedding anniversary in heaven this day. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her eight sisters and brother, Elizabeth Miller, Edith Johnson, Ida Fisher, Ruth Means, Ethel Lint, Evelyn Vota, Billie Hepler, Beatrice King, and Charles Miller; and her one very special grandson, "Little" Bobby Hayes and his mother, Peggy.

Bessie is survived and will be sadly missed by her loving family; her five children, Ernest N. Hayes Jr. and his wife Julie, James Hayes, Thomas Hayes and his wife Doris, Robert Hayes, and Doris Hayes, all of Lower Tyrone Township; her brother-in-law, Windel Hayes of Dawson; her sister-in-law, Janet Jennings of Florida; her special family members, Brenda, Dawn, Karen, and Ed; her 11 grandchildren, Michelle Hayes Plissey and husband Doug, Jason Hayes and wife Amber, Christy Hayes, James Hayes Jr. and wife Angela, Jessica Palaoro and husband Kristian, Kelly Schaffer and husband Michael, Jason Roberts, Melissa Gerlachovsky and husband Rene, Angela Margaronis and husband Jason, Lee Stunja and wife Melissa, and Ashlee Stunja; and her 14 great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Brad Plissey, Victoria, Alexandra, and Isabella Palaoro, Austin, Jacob, and Christopher Schaffer, Joshua and Paige Gerlachovsky, Tyler and Tenley Margaronis, and Elliana and Lucas Stunja.

Bessie was a graduate of Dunbar High School and a faithful and active member of the Dawson Baptist Church where she attended for 54 years. She served as a member of the Gibson Memorial Class and was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She worked hard as a farmer's wife and later as a secretary and bookkeeper at United Dairy Farms always at the side of her husband Ernest. She also enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and doing crossword puzzles.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET, SCOTTDALE (724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com / GPS: N40 degrees 06.136, W79 degrees 35.278). Family and friends will be received from 11 AM – 8 PM on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday with Pastor Jesse W. Keller officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery next to her late husband. Memorials may be made to: Dawson Baptist Church, Galley Street, Dawson, PA 15428.
