Barbara J. Szabo, 64, of Smithton, (South Huntingdon Township), passed away at 4:25 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2021, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Barb was born Oct. 2, 1956, in McKeesport, a daughter of the late William "Bill" Hlafcsak and Joanne Kosor. Barb was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She graduated from Yough High School, Class of 1974, and was a practicing licensed beautician, operating the Barbara J. Szabo Beauty Shop. Barb was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Scottdale and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, casinos and cooking and baking on holidays. Barb will be sadly missed by her loving family; her three children, Charles Szabo and girlfriend, Missy, of Hutchinson, Stephen Szabo and wife, Dawn, of Ruffsdale, and Sabrina House and husband, Tyler, of Williamsburg, Va.; her four grandchildren, Veronica, Stella, Amelia and Bailey; and her sister, Rhonda Griffiths, of Sarasota, Fla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Johnson, in October 2020. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B.
