Obituary

Alvin B. "Butch" Vance Jr., 68, of Mt. Pleasant (East Huntingdon Township), passed away at 9:44 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, in Hempfield Manor, Hempfield Township. Butch was born Dec. 4, 1952, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Alvin B. Vance Sr. and Vera J. (Lane) Vance. Butch was a devoted father and grandfather. He was a lifelong farmer and owner of Cotton Spring Farms. Butch graduated from Southmoreland High School, Class of 1971, and was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Vietnam War as a military policeman. Butch enjoyed farming and showing cows! Butch will be sadly missed by his loving family: his wife of 27 years, Stella L. (Brown) Vance, whom he married on May 18, 1994; his son, Adam B. Vance and wife, Kelly, of Alverton; his three daughters, Joy Vance Davis and husband, Matt, of Dawson, Janet Vance, of Mt. Pleasant, and Jennifer Vance, of Dawson; and his grandchildren, Austin Vance and wife, Brittany, Lane Vance, Brooke Vance, Kathy and Cheyenne Bash, and Mason, Madison and Maddox Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathy (Poole) Vance, in November 1993; and his grandson, Dakota Bash, in 2013. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale (724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com ). Private services were held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Tom Shirer officiating. Final resting place will be in Alverton Cemetery. Love Lasts Forever!
