Althea M. Rhodes, 97

Of Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township) passed away at 11:00 PM Monday, December 9, 2024 in the RNC Nursing Center, Greensburg. Althea was born June 22, 1927 in East Huntingdon Township, a daughter of the late Clyde Henry and Lola (Finley) Lowe. A widow of 34 years, she was married to Emerson Ormsby Rhodes, who passed away on August 20, 1990.

Althea was a native and lifelong resident of East Huntingdon Township and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She served as a secretary for 35 years at the Mennonite Publishing House and enjoyed reading, crafts, cooking, canning and had a love of animals. Althea was also a faithful member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

Althea will be sadly missed by her loving family; her four sons, Dennis Lee Rhodes, Barry E. Rhodes, Roger K. Rhodes and his wife Gail, and Randy T. Rhodes and his wife Cindy; her six grandchildren, Melanie Halsted, Danielle Halsted and husband Chad, Dana Moore and husband James, Gary Rhodes, Corey Rhodes, and Justin Rhodes and wife Stephanie; her eight great grandchildren, Emily, Noah, and Jake Halsted, Trinity and Nathaniel Moore, and Bella, Nick, and Fiona Rhodes; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vera McClain; her two brothers, Maurice and Wallace Lowe; and her daughter-in-law, Martha Rhodes. She was the last surviving member of the Clyde and Lola Lowe family.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET, SCOTTDALE (www.fergusonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday and 10-11 AM Saturday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday with Pastor Tom Shirer officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery next to her late husband. Love Lasts Forever!
