The third step in funeral preplanning is to provide the information that will be needed in the writing of your obituary, and in the preparation of a death certificate.

It may seem at first a bit daunting to create your own obituary, but imagine the overwhelming responsibility felt by your loved ones in their time of loss if the job is left up to them.  They will be concerned about having the right facts, saying the right things, and making your tribute something you would have been proud of.  These concerns will need to be addressed immediately and at a time of great emotional stress for them.

Preplanning an obituary is one more way for you to relieve an undue burden from your spouse or other loved ones.

Of course, you need not actually “write” your obituary, but you certainly can provide the information needed to create one.
